Dieter Nuhr

Dieter Nuhr explores the world with a wide-open gaze. He is interested in what is distinctive and often overlooked. From his home in the Ruhr region of Germany, his vision extends across continents and cultures. In his works, the near and the far converge, as do memory and the present moment. Landscapes and faces coalesce into quiet narratives about the act of seeing itself and the ability to discover a piece of the world no matter where you are. The touring exhibition is made possible by the Essen-based Brost Foundation.

Dieter Nuhr is a visual artist. After studying art with a focus on painting, he now dedicates himself to conceptual photography. He travels the world, documenting remote and unconventional environments and transforming them into images. His photographs offer an often-melancholic perspective on the enigmatic nature of existence. Outside of his work as a visual artist, Nuhr is also one of Germany's most famous satirists.
