The game was their guilty pleasure, but no one thought that guilty pleasure could be deadly. Always stuck playing the "good girl" to her peers, Andi longs for a reprieve from caretaking, chronic illness, and financial instability. Playing the traditional role of the only son in his Japanese family, Mitch has never really rocked the boat. To escape, Andi and Mitch become the people they always wanted to be in an online multiplayer RPG, VITAELANGICA: the online game Andi loves to play, designed by the company Mitch works for. When the two get together in-game, it's fireworks, but not always the good kind! Meeting in real life is just the beginning of their adventure. While on the trip to introduce Mitch to her childhood friends and father, the extraordinary happens. A Seamsplit occurs between actual reality and virtual reality-specifically the world of VITAELANGICA. Nothing could have prepared them for facing an actual dragon in their mundane world! Despite confusion running the show, these experts on the video game must defeat their foe to discover how this has happened and what they can do about it. Will Andi and Mitch be able to keep their friends together while also protecting civilians from becoming lost NPCs? Will they find help before the world turns against them? After all, not everyone is a gamer, and no player has infinite lives.
