Tres hombres.
ENGLISH DESCRIPTION
Three men. An impossible revolution. An imagined truth. "An untold story from our twentieth century, written by an author at the height of his craft." -- Ignacio Peyró
In the early hours of January 22, 1961, twenty-four Spanish and Portuguese exiles hijacked an ocean liner in the Caribbean, intent on sparking a revolution to overthrow the dictatorships of Franco and Salazar. The plan was bold--almost unbelievable. During the takeover, one crew member was killed and another seriously wounded. According to the hijackers' own account, they then abandoned the revolution in order to save the injured man's life.
This is a true story.
Blending genres with remarkable skill--part adventure novel, part journalistic chronicle, part biography--José Ignacio Carnero brings his full narrative power to bear in a book driven by rhythm and precision. At its core are the three men behind the hijacking: their feats, their flaws, their mistakes, and their lies.
Beyond the account of an extraordinary episode, this novel is a meditation on the power of imagination--what drives us to act, what can open new horizons or blind us. Perhaps there is no revolution more intimate--or more dangerous--than that of those who choose to believe in their own myth.
