For centuries, women's voices have been made invisible, silenced, or domesticated in the process of both creation and translation. But there is a silent revolution: women writers and translators who not only convey the meanings of words, but also recover the transformative power of poetry written by women. The prestigious editor Rosa Lentini, winner of the 2019 José Luis Giménez-Frontín Prize and translator of Sharon Olds, Elizabeth Bishop, H.D., and Adrienne Rich, offers us a challenging and necessary work that reveals how feminist translation is reshaping the Spanish poetic tradition. Through the analysis of transgressive figures such as Djuna Barnes, Else Lasker-Schüler, and Wislawa Szymborska, she unveils the strategies that turn the intimate into the universal, the everyday into the transcendent, and the sexual into the political. This luminous and deeply erudite essay not only celebrates the emergence of female voices since the 1950s, but also examines the complexities of reading, translating, and editing women's poetry in a world still torn between 'poet' and 'poetess'. An invitation to discover that tradition and the true canon are, in essence, what we choose to read. A work that forever changes our understanding of poetry, translation, and the power of the word when it emerges from a woman.
