They seem to have sprung from a wild fever dream and attract the eye like a magnet. Immerse yourself in these colourful, untamed landscapes.
Shara Hughes’s paintings are a journey with twists and turns through the jungle of an exuberant inner world. Her motifs are charged with manifold associations. Some works read as an homage to Georgia O’Keeffe, yet their expressive use of colour is most heavily influenced by Fauvist visions of landscape and the Expressionism of the modern era. Alongside key paintings of the past decade as well as entirely new works, the catalogue presents ceramics and works on paper.
