Lars Gulliver Dieth doesn't think in categories. Ask him whether he's a designer or a developer and you won't get a satisfying answer - because both are true and neither is enough.
Born in 1982 in Ulm, he grew up with an obsession for technology, form and the question of what the two can do together.
He studied fashion, then graphic design and communication - not because he couldn't decide, but because the space in between always interested him more than either-or. That attitude has never changed. It remains the core of everything he does.
For over twenty years he made that in-between his profession. As an Art Director for international agencies and brands across pharma, telecommunications, luxury and digital communication. As someone who understood early on that the most interesting creative decisions require technical knowledge - and vice versa. He was never the Art Director who delivers layouts. He was the one asking what happens underneath, how it gets built and whether it should even be approached that way at all.
Over time his field of work shifted - not because he left creativity behind, but because technology itself became creative. Generative AI, agent systems, augmented reality, interactive experiences: Dieth moved through all of these not as a user, but as someone who understands what lies beneath. He builds, tests, discards and builds again. Always driven by the same impulse: understand what is happening before everyone else does.
He is not a theorist. Conference stages interest him less than the next experiment. What drives him is the gap between what is possible today and what most people don't yet know about it.
Since 2026 he has been writing. Not as someone looking at technology from the outside, but as someone who has been - and still is - right in the middle of it. Two decades of practice, failure, fresh starts and real results - that is the material his books are made of.
Lars Gulliver Dieth lives and works in Offenbach am Main.
